Dr. Bradley Nassif to lecture at St. Nicholas Church, Kenosha, WI

 
KENOSHA, WI [MW Diocese Communications] -- Dr. Bradley Nassif, professor of theology, spirituality and the Bible at North Park University, Chicago, will be the featured speaker at Saint Nicholas Church, 4313 18th Avenue, Kenosha, WI on Saturday, April 6, 2013.
 
The afternoon will begin at 2:45 p.m. with Dr. Nassif's lecture -- "Keeping First Things First: The Centrality of the Gospel in Orthodox Life and Worship" -- followed by questions and answers.  The event will conclude with the celebration of Vespers at 5:00 p.m.
 
There is no charge for the event, although a free-will offering will be taken.
 
Dr. Nassif is a well known lecturer.  According to Priest Stephen Hrycyniak, host pastor, he holds degrees from Protestant (Denver Seminary), Roman Catholic (Fordham University) and Eastern Orthodox (Saint Vladimir's Orthodox Seminary) institutions: MA in New Testament, MA in European History, MDiv in Eastern Orthodox Studies, and PhD in Historical Theology.  He is a specialist on Eastern Orthodoxy and biblical interpretation in the early Church.
 
A member of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese, Dr. Nassif has been a pioneer in introducing Orthodoxy to Protestant evangelicals, and has been a keynote speaker for international meetings sponsored by World Vision and the World Council of Churches.?The New Republic?describes him as "the leading academic expert on Orthodox-Evangelical dialogue." His two most recent books include "Bringing Jesus to the Desert" (Zondervan, 2012) and "The Philokalia: A Classic Text on Orthodox Spirituality" (Oxford University Press, 2012), co-edited with Brock Bingaman.
