DIOCESAN SEMINARIAN LEADS IOCC TRIP TO NEW ORLEANS

NEW ORLEANS, LA [MW Communications] - From June 28 - July 3, Father Joel Weir and his wife Maria led an IOCC "Volunteer in the Gulf" group to New Orleans to assist in builidng homes for those persons affected by Hurricane Katrina.

The group began by touring the affected areas in New Orleans and then got to work on their Habitat for Humanity homes. The work consisted of roofing, siding and placement of windows on two homes outside of Convington, Louisiana, just north of Lake Ponchartrain and New Orleans.

Traveling with Father Joel and Matushka Maria were parishioners of Saint Stephen Church, Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Since 2006, a total of 200 IOCC volunteers from parishes throughout North America have put in 1,000 works days towards completing a total of 43 Habitat for Humanity homes.
