Discerning an American Expression of Orthodoxy

Darien, IL. (MW Communications) - The annual Diocesan Clergy Convocation was held February 9 - 11, 2009 in suburban Chicago. The annual retreat provides an opprtunity for the clergy of the diocese to come together in fellowship and worship and to share their experiences while also talking about the health and future of the diocese.

This year's key-note address was delivered by Priest Jonathan Tobias of the Carpatho Russian Diocese of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. The theme of the his key-note address was, "American Prospects for Orthodxy". The three-part lecture can be found here by clicking the links below.

Fr. Jonathan Tobias is the pastor of the St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, under the omophor of Metropolitan Nicholas of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. He is also the Professor of Pastoral Theology at Christ the Saviour Seminary in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He has written and lectured extensively on Orthodoxy and American society, especially in terms of psychotherapy and youth. He and his wife Marsha of 27 years are the parents of two daughters.
