| The Archbishop of the Diocese has definitive authority over the approval, status, location, facilities and direction of the missions of tthe diocese and the mission program. To assist him in the administration of the Diocese’s mission communities is a Mission Development Committee. Mission Development Committee RoleThe role of the Mission Development Committee is to: - Review and oversee the work of the Diocesan Missions department so as to offer suggestions, constructive criticism, encouragement, and support to the activities of this department.
- Decide upon financial awards and grants of the Diocese to deserving Mission communities in a fair and equitable manner.
- Assure that these funds/resources are used in a responsible manner by recipient Mission parishes.
- Assure that these funds and other activities of the Mission Department are primarily focused on accelerating the calendar time from the first establishment of a mission community to it’s’ maturation into healthy parish status.
- Offer constructive feedback to Mission communities that can, hopefully, enable them to develop more effectively.
- Recommend the selection of new mission locations, assures proper geographical spacing of missions and assigns target territories for each mission.
- Identifie unsuccessful Missions and recommends corrective action.
Mission Development Committee Members
Members of the Mission Development Committee are selected by the Archbishop from the Diocese' Deans, Diocesan Council members, senior priests and laypersons with mission experience. Fr. Daniel Rentel, St Gregory of Nyssa parish, Columbus OH is a consultant to the committee.
